Farmette is a farm, marketplace, bakery + cafe. Our no-till, no-spray, Earth-friendly farm grows fresh greens, herbs + flowers.

Bakery

We bake fresh sourdough bread and focaccia each morning.

We recommend visiting early for the best selection of bakery items. We do sell out each day.

Cafe

Grab a cup of farmer-direct coffee while you shop our marketplace or lounge next to the farm.

In our cafe you'll find coffee drinks, kombucha, wine, beer + cold brew. Croissants and muffins from local bakery Bit of Swiss can be found in the cafe.

Outdoor seating

Lounge next to the farm with your bestie and a cold brew.

Well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome outside.

As the Barista, you'll support our cafe by making coffee drinks, utilizing our tap system, stocking the cafe and providing friendly customer service to our customers. Farmette’s cafe features sustainably farmed coffee, cold brew + nitro, espresso, wine and other specials. Our marketplace is stocked with sustainable products including house-made sourdough breads, farm-fresh produce, prepared foods, wine, beer, grocery + home items.

Responsibilities

You’ll report directly to the Assistant General Manager and collaborate with the entire small Farmette team. 

  • Customer service: maintain a positive, friendly, calm + welcoming environment for all staff, customers and vendors.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures
  • Prepare drinks on farmette’s cafe menu
  • Operate our POS system for taking orders and payment.
  • Keep farmette clean and fully stocked.
  • Maintain quality and consistency of culinary products.
  • Keep a clean, sanitary workspace, storage + refrigeration.
  • Accept deliveries, check for accuracy of orders, input inventory + recycle boxes.
  • Keep all spaces in compliance with all local health codes.
  • Learn about all of our products to assist clients with purchasing.
  • Other duties as assigned and desired

Requirements

  • At least 6 months of barista experience.
  • Must love coffee.
  • Ability to work quickly and multi-task
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team-driven environment. We are a respectful and positive work environment.
  • Reliability a must.
  • Able to work independently, focused and self-driven.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Open to feedback with the understanding that the whole team is working towards the same goal.
  • Keep a positive and professional attitude with co-workers, customers + vendors.
  • Be able to handle the physical work of being on your feet, walking, talking + cleaning. 
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Reach, bend and stoop frequently.
  • Make cleanliness and food safety a top priority.
  • Live within a reasonable driving distance to New Buffalo and have access to reliable transportation.

You’ll report to our bakery manager along with the entire small Farmette team. 

  • Support the bakery program by keeping the marketplace stocked with fresh baked products.
  • Tasks involve mixing + shaping dough, measuring ingredients, making cookies, bread, focaccia + hand pies, baking and washing dishes.
  • Maintain quality and consistency of the bakery program.
  • Keep a clean, sanitary workspace, storage and refrigeration.
  • Other duties as assigned

  • No baking experience necessary, we can train.

  • Outdoor maintenance (cleaning/drying outdoor furniture for guests, opening and closing umbrellas).

  • Customer Service experience preferable
  • 17+ years old to be able to sell alcohol

Will you be open year-round?

We stay open year-round with some small breaks sprinkled in. We keep our newsletter,website and social media up-to-date on our current hours.

Can I host my event at Farmette?

Farmette is able to occasionally host casual private events with a guest capacity of 50 people. Please fill out this form to get the conversation started.

Can I pre-order items from Farmette - like your bread?

We are currently not accepting pre-orders of any kind.

Is the farm organic?

We are not certified organic but we do use all the same growing practices. We are no-till, no-spray and always Earth-friendly. Feel free to ask us any specific questions!

Will farmette donate to my event/fundraiser?

Thank you so much for thinking of farmette. At this time we have already allocated our donation budget for 2026 and are no longer accepting donation requests.

Will you carry my product at farmette?

Is professional photography allowed at farmette?

We require professional photography be approved and coordinated ahead of time. Send us an email to get the conversation started.

Can I make a reservation?

We are not a restaurant and do not accept reservations. Think of us more as a grocery store with a coffee shop and bakery and lots of beautiful outdoor seating.

Do you allow dogs?

We welcome well-behaved leashed dogs outside only.
