As the General Manager, you’ll keep farmette’s entire operation running smoothly by overseeing the day-to-day operations, managing employees and providing excellent customer service both internally for our staff and externally for our customers.

Responsibilities

You’ll collaborate with Farmette’s founder, Katie Burdett, along with the entire small Farmette team. 

  • Oversee day-to-day operations: Utilize and improve upon existing systems to keep farmette’s entire operation running smoothly. 
  • Team management: Manage employees. Hire, train, schedule and manage staff. Maintain and build upon our current positive + respectful work environment.
  • Customer Service: Provide excellent internal + external customer service culture.
  • Communication and collaboration: Participate in weekly staff meetings and provide clear and respectful communication among departments.
  • Property maintenance: Utilize and improve upon existing systems to keep farmette’s entire operation (indoors + out) in clean, working order. Coordinate equipment maintenance, repairs, cleaning etc on a scheduled and as-needed basis.
  • Ensuring compliance: Ensure Farmette adheres to all relevant regulations and guidelines.
  • Financial management: Optimize profitability through inventory management, budgeting, reducing waste and increasing sales.
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of leadership experience, particularly in the culinary industry
  • Excellent communication + interpersonal skills.
  • Extremely organized and willing to follow systems.
  • Be trained in and willing to help in all departments as needed including the farm, marketplace, bakery, cafe + outdoor areas.
  • Passion for working with sustainably produced + local products.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team-driven environment. We are a respectful and positive work environment.
  • Reliability a must.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for customer service and employee management.
  • Able to work independently, focused and self-driven.
  • Detail oriented with a strong sense of aesthetics and merchandising.

As the Farmette Float, you'll support our cafe and marketplace by making coffee drinks, utilizing our tap system, stocking the marketplace and providing friendly customer service to our customers. Farmette’s cafe features sustainably farmed coffee, cold brew + nitro, espresso, wine and other specials. Our marketplace is stocked with sustainable products including house-made sourdough breads, farm-fresh produce, prepared foods, wine, beer, grocery + home items.

Responsibilities

You’ll report directly to the Cafe Manager, Farmette’s founder Katie Burdett and collaborate with the entire small Farmette team. 

  • Customer service: maintain a positive, friendly, calm + welcoming environment for all staff, customers and vendors.
  • Follow all Standard Operating Procedures for the cafe and marketplace.
  • Operate our POS system for taking orders and payment.
  • Fulfill bakery orders at the register.
  • Keep farmette clean and fully stocked.
  • Stocking fresh + dry good items.
  • Maintain quality and consistency of culinary products.
  • Keep a clean, sanitary workspace, storage + refrigeration.
  • Accept deliveries, check for accuracy of orders, input inventory + recycle boxes.
  • Communicate + coordinate with the kitchen + farm team about inventory, customer feedback, etc.
  • Keep all spaces in compliance with all local health codes.
  • Learn about all of our products to assist clients with purchasing.
  • Help facilitate surplus food donations to Harris Family Farm Foundation.
  • Outdoor maintenance as needed (cleaning/drying outdoor furniture for guests)
  • Cover full shifts in the marketplace + cafe as needed 
  • Other duties as assigned and desired

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of customer service experience. Barista experience not needed, we will provide training.

  • Support the bakery program by keeping the marketplace stocked with fresh baked products.
  • Tasks involve mixing + shaping dough, measuring ingredients, making cookies, bread, focaccia + hand pies, baking and washing dishes.
  • Maintain quality and consistency of the bakery program.
  • Keep a clean, sanitary workspace, storage and refrigeration.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of baking experience, preferably in a retail bakery.

Will you be open year-round?

We plan to stay open year-round with some small breaks sprinkled in. We keep our newsletter,website and social media up-to-date on our current hours.

Can I host my event at Farmette?

Farmette is able to occasionally host casual private events with a guest capacity of 50 people. Please fill out this form to get the conversation started.

Can I pre-order items from Farmette - like your bread?

We are currently not accepting pre-orders of any kind.

Is the farm organic?

We are not certified organic but we do use all the same growing practices. We are no-till, no-spray and always Earth-friendly. Feel free to ask us any specific questions!
